Introduction to Discipleship

Being a Christian means being in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and doing the things He did with the help of the Holy Spirit so that we can show God’s love to the world.

However, learning to be Christ-like is a lifelong journey and we can’t be like Jesus and do the things He did if we don’t know anything about Him!  This doesn’t happen overnight and we need to grow in our knowledge of Jesus, as we would in any relationship, to help us deepen our faith and as a result become confident, compassionate and courageous disciples, equipped to live out the Good News of Jesus each day in every aspect of our lives, Sunday to Saturday.

 We can achieve this in a number of ways, for instance:
  • By personal study (reading the Bible, books on Christian themes etc), prayer and quiet times;
  • By meeting with others in study groups, lectures and teaching sessions to gain knowledge and have fellowship with each other;
  • By worshipping together in church or elsewhere, hearing God’s word read and preached.

In the following pages you will find ideas and information about/links to resources to help you to find out more about Jesus and how to develop your relationship with Him.

If you would like any further information please contact the Parish Office.
