Personal study
One way to learn about who Jesus is, is to spend time with Him. Reading and studying the Bible is one way that we can draw close to Him. This is sometimes referred to as a “quiet time”. It is a time when we can reflect on a passage in the Bible, listening to what God has to say to us and praying and giving thanks.
Creating a routine for a quiet time may be helpful and the more we do it the more we will want to do it. Choose a time and place that works for you – it doesn’t matter when but you should be able to read and pray without other distractions. It doesn’t have to be for very long either. We all lead busy lives but try to do this every day if you can.
If reading the Bible and praying are new to you then you may find getting some help useful. Bible Reading Notes or following the Lectionary can be helpful. Ask a member of the Ministry Team if you are unsure where to start.
